About Jewell Nursing Solutions Bedsore Rescue®
Positioning Cushions & Pillows
Designed by a Wound Care Nurse. Trusted by all Caregivers.
When someone is confined to bed, preventing pressure injuries becomes one of the most important parts of daily care. Yet many caregivers quickly discover that ordinary pillows flatten, and simple triangle wedges are too hard, slip out of place, or put the person in all kinds of discomfort. Both fail to provide consistent support.
The Bedsore Rescue® Positioning Cushions were designed by an experienced wound care nurse over 12 years ago who wanted a better solution for positioning support. After years of watching caregivers struggle with stacked pillows and bulky foam wedges, she developed positioning cushions that accommodate the patient’s support needs and work as a system to provide stable, comfortable, and long-lasting support while helping relieve pressure from vulnerable areas such as the sacrum, tailbone, hips, heels, and spine.
Today, Bedsore Rescue® products are used in hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospice settings, and homes across the country to support safe repositioning and pressure injury prevention.
Empowering Caregivers. Protecting Patients.
Pressure injuries remain one of the most common, costly, and devastating forms of patient harm – yet they are largely preventable.
The missing piece isn’t compassion or effort. It’s caregivers working as a team with access to the right equipment, techniques, and education they need.
We believe every caregiver — professional or family — deserve tools that actually work, regardless of their level of medical training or care setting.
When caregivers are supported, they can support their patients better. When patients are supported better, outcomes improve. When outcomes improve, Everyone benefits.
It’s time we care for those who care.

Since then, she has grown the company into a $1M per-year enterprise, establishing strategic partnerships with Amazon, Walmart, Vizient, and other major healthcare distributors.

Gwen Jewell, Clinical Nurse II, RN, BSN
Jewell Nursing Solutions Founder & Clinical Director
Gwen Jewell is a Clinical Nurse II and Pressure Injury Prevention Clinical Quality and Performance Improvement Resource Nurse for Sequoia Hospital, A Dignity Health, CommonSpirit Hospital in Northern California. A graduate of San Francisco State University School of Nursing, Gwen has worked at the bedside educating and training nurses, nurses aids and physical therapist on woundcare and pressure injury prevention and healing.
In 2011, while working at Dignity Health’s Sequoia Hospital, she volunteered for the Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcer Prevention (HAPU) Team after caring for a patient who suffered several severe – and ultimately fatal – pressure injuries.
That experience became a turning point.
As Gwen studied pressure injuries more deeply, one truth stood out:
The single most important factor in preventing pressure injuries – relieving pressure – is also the most poorly understood and difficult to achieve for caregivers.
Determined to close that gap, Gwen combined clinical nursing expertise with principles from ergonomics, physical therapy, and support technology. Drawing on her experience alongside Caroline at Relax The Back, she began designing better positioning cushions and pillows and developing safer patient-handling techniques.
Today, Gwen educates medical professionals and home caregivers alike, equipping them with better tools, better techniques, and better outcomes – all in service of patient safety, comfort, and dignity.
